The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari, was arrested on Friday, July 4, 2014 upon his return from Brazil, according to reports from the NFF secretariat in Abuja.
Maigari and other board members were picked up by the Department of State Security Service at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as they returned from the World Cup.
Maigari was on Thursday, July 3, 2014 sacked alongside his entire board by a Plateau High Court sitting in Jos.
The suit was filed by former Nigeria Premier League (NPL) chairman Rumson Baribote, who requested the court to restrain Maigari and all the committee and congress of the NFF from managing the affairs of football matters in Nigeria.
The judge, Hon. Justice P. L Lot granted the Order of Interlocutory Injunction restraining the president of the NFF, the executive committee members as well as the NFF Congress from running affairs of Nigerian football pending the determination of the Motion on Notice before the court.
