The Buhari presidency has released the names of the 21 Chibok girls freed by Boko Haram on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesperson, published the names this evening, shortly after the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo met with the school girls.
Professor Osinbajo told the girls that “the whole nation has been waiting for you.” His wife, Dolapo Osinbajo, Lawal Daura, the director-general of the Department of State Security Services, DSS, and Aisha Alhassan, the minister for women affairs were present at the brief tearful meeting.
The director general of the DSS formally handed over the list of the Chibok girls freed in a deal that government sources say involved a prisoner swap.
The federal government says the girls are currently undergoing medical, psychological and other necessary reviews being undertaken by experts, giving them care.
The names of the girls are:
