Gunmen on Saturday invaded the staff quarters of Junior Secondary School, Yebu in the Kwali Area Council of Abuja, and abducted the Vice Principal, Mohammed Nuhu.
The school is operated by the FCT Universal Basic Education Board.
The gunmen, who were said to have come in their large numbers, shot sporadically into the air before making away with the vice principal.
It was gathered that the security personnel at the gate was tied down to facilitate the operations.
Stephen Knabayi, the chairman of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, wing of the Nigeria Union Teachers, NUT, confirmed the abduction of the vice principal on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in Abuja.
He said the kidnappers were yet to reach out for any demands.
Knabayi said: “We have that report of the kidnap incident to our office. As I speak to you, he is still being kidnapped.
“Our efforts to reaching the kidnappers up till now have not worked.
“We are so sad about the whole thing that despite our reports, our suggestions to the government, things like these are still happening. It is so sad. We are not happy.
“Mallam Nuhu is still with these kidnappers as I speak to you.”
When contacted, the Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, promised to find out what happened and get back to our correspondent.
