Former military governor of Akwa Ibom State, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga has passed away at 68.
A source close to the family disclosed to The Trent that Otuekong Nkanga died in a hospital in Uyo on December 24, 2020 from COVID-19 complications.
The late Otuekong Nkanga was Akwa Ibom governor from September 1990 to January during Ibrahim Babangida’s military regime. Ufot Ekaette, who later became the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, was his deputy.
He retired as an air commodore in the Nigerian Airforce.
Until his deathm he was the chairman of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF.
