Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has ordered the immediate release of Ese Oruru, the 14-year-old teenager who was abducted from her home in Bayelsa, converted to Islam, and forced to marry a man in Kano.
The Kano Emir who gave this order on Monday, February 29, also asked the Kano State Sharia commission to liaise with office of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, zone 1 to commence the process of returning girl who was abducted by Yunusa of Kura local government area of Kano state.
According to Vanguard, the Emir of Kano, in his first official response since the abduction of the youngster was made public, distanced himself, Kano emirate council from the purported abduction by her suspected lover.

The Trent was the first newspaper in Nigeria to publish the story of Miss Ese Rita Oruru abduction on Sunday, February 21, 2016. Since then the matter of her abduction and continued kidnapping has gone viral and become a national issue.
A thirteen year-old, Ese, was abducted from Bayelsa State by a man named one Mr. Yinusa. Taken to Kano, forced to convert to Islam, and become his wife in August 2015. Her poor parents traced her location to the palace of the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi where her abductor allegedly kept her in a forced child marriage.

“I have ordered the sharia commission to liaise with the office of Deputy Inspector General of police zone to repatriate and reconcile the teenager with her family immediately,” he said.
The young girl was abducted in Opolo, Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa state, by Yunusa in August, 2015.
A senator from Bayelsa, Ben Murray Bruce who had also championed the release of Ese Oruru from her captors, had revealed the following on his Twitter handle.
