The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru has died in an air crash on Friday, May 21, 2021 while on an official trip to Kaduna.
Nigerian Air Force Director of Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the crash saying; “An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport.
He added; “The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon.”
The army chief died in the crash with his aides.
Attahiru was among the Service Chiefs appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in January, 2021.
