Students of Bowen University, Iwo, on Wednesday night, March 19, 2014 rioted over plans to increase of school fees while they lack basic amenities such as water and power supply.
The students of the private university, owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, led a violent protest destroying school property, vehicles and their chaplain’s residence.
Some of the students also complain of ‘unnecessary rules and regulations’ imposed on them by the school authority.
While the mayhem was going on, the school security personnel fled, the police later stepped in and restored calm to the university campus.
