Gun-wielding men suspected to be bandits have killed two immigration officers during an attack in Katsina state.
The incident happened on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, in a village in Jibiya Local Government Area of the State, at about 11pm.
According to report, the bandits surrounded Kadobe village, close to an Immigration checkpoint, after they allegedly got information that many cows were in the village.
The bandits reportedly engaged the immigration officers at the Kadobe checkpoint in a gun battle, killed two officers, and escaped with hundreds of cows.
The immigration officers, were said to have called for reinforcement from the military. They were however ambushed.
The reinforcement team were able to repel the bandits but a soldier was injured.
Speaking to journalists, a source said;
“The bandits got information that some people brought cows to the village yesterday and you know that the immigration checkpoint is there. So they came in the night and started exchanging fire with the immigration officers. They succeeded in killing two immigration officers and injured one soldier.
“Many of the bandits too were killed but they took away the corpse with the cows.”
