The Nigerian military has dislodged a roadblock mounted by Boko Haram insurgents who were in frantic search for food, fuel and lubricant for their vehicles.

Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri made this known on Thursday during an update on the efforts of the security agencies.

He said the soldiers dislodged a roadblock mounted between Damboa and Biu by insurgents in search of food fuel and vehicle lubricants.

Omeri, who said the insurgents were under pressure as they ran out of these items, said the military forces were recording successes in the anti-terror campaign in the Northeast.

According to him, the government forces conducted successful operation in Tumbarka in Borno State, resulting in the killing of 10 insurgents and recovery of weapons and destruction of 15 motorcycles.

Omeri said the federal government appealed to Nigerians to exercise restraint and refrain from making inflammatory statements on the 486 travellers who were arrested in Abia on June 15.

Omeri made the appeal saying that one of the travellers, identified to be on the watch list of security agencies since 2007 was still undergoing interrogation.

“Therefore, people are advised to restrain themselves from uninformed comments and assumptive preposition that could mislead the general public, especially majority of Nigerians who desired peace in the country.

“I appeal to all Nigerians, irrespective of their circumstances of births or businesses that they are doing anywhere in this country that they should remain calm,” he said.
