The Federal Government on Thursday, February 5, 2015 raised concerns over alleged plans by insurgent sect, Boko Haram to blow up polling units during the forthcoming general elections.
Making the revelation was the Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, who spoke to journalists at the Centre in Abuja, adding that the insurgents have also perfected plans to steal, buy or collect the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) of female voters and give them to female suicide bombers during the elections.
He therefore warned Nigerians to be careful of their PVCs and be vigilante so it doesn’t get to dangerous hands.
He said: “By this information, therefore, Nigerians, especially female voters, are warned to remain vigilant and also jealously guard and preserve their PVCs to avoid the possibility of their being lost to these bad elements who will put them to untoward uses.”
