At least 42 people were killed in two separate attacks in Borno State, allegedly carried out by Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
34 people were killed and 12 others injured at the popular Monday Market in the state capital, Maiduguri after a bomb went off.
Eight others were reportedly killed, with 15 injured after the sect members laid an ambush at Ngamdu village, located along the Maiduguri/Damaturu Road.
Confirming the explosion, a member of the local vigilante, who spoke anonymously said: “The explosion was from a planted bomb at the crowded market. The bodies of the 12 dead persons were taken away by security men. Twelve wounded people were also rushed to the hospital.”
Also confirming the incident was a nurse, who availed under the oath of secrecy that 28 people were brought in dead while six others died while receiving medical attention.
