Real Madrid has gotten a new coach, Rafa Benitez, who signed a three year contract with the team.
Banitez, a spaniard is to take over from Carlo Ancelottis who just deoarted after 12 months of guiding the club to their 10th European Cup success.
Benitez who was born in Madrid, has been Napoli’s manager for two seasons having enjoyed success at European level with a number of clubs.
Benitez had led Valencia to the UEFA cup glory in 2004, then the following year, he moved to the Premier League and led Liverpool Football Club to the Champions league victory at Istanbul in only his first season on Meyerside.
He was also an interim coach for Chelsea Football Club when they won the Europa League in 2013.
The 55 year old is Real Madrid’s 10th coach in 12 years , staging a return to Madrid for a third spell in a coaching role having prvioulsy been in charge of their youth side in 1986 and their B team in the early 1990s.
“The team must be competitive, capable of reaching the end of the season with chance to win trophies,” said Benitez.
He went further to state that “The Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey are our objectives, as Madrid must win each game.”
