BAUCHI, Nigeria – The lawmaker representing the Burra Constituency of Bauchi State, Hon. Ado Wakili, has died, only three days before the end of his tenure.
According to a statement issued on Friday, June 16, 2023, by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Suleiman Abubakar, Wakili passed away after a brief illness.
In his condolence message, Abubakar paid tribute to Wakili as a dependable colleague, elder statesman, and “a father of all” in the House.
The Speaker further stated that the death of Wakili was deeply felt by all members of the House, describing it as a significant loss at a crucial time.
“We lose a father, colleague, and great partner at a time when his Constituency, the Honourable House, and the State need his fatherly contributions the most,” Abubakar said.
“On behalf of the Honourable Members and staff of the House, I send my deep condolences to his family, the good people of Burra Constituency, and Ningi Local Government Area,” he added.
The statement also asked for divine forgiveness and blessings for the deceased. “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” it read.
As per the statement, funeral prayers for the late Hon. Ado Wakili are scheduled for 1:30 pm today at the Gwallaga Juma’ah Mosque in Bauchi.
