The Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Bauchi State turned violent on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 with one person confirmed killed and 14 others injured.
Channels TV reports that violence erupted after a clash occurred between two groups of hunters during the durbar procession in Bauchi, the state capital.
The hunters during the clash attacked with dangerous weapons and also shot into the air.
Governor Bala Mohammed in reaction to the clash immediately visited the victims at the trauma and emergency center of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in the state.
He said based on the preliminary inquiry from the police, the clash was planned.
The governor also promised to go tough on miscreants attempting to truncate the peace of the state.
Commissioner of police in the state, Habu Sani said at least 55 persons have been arrested and an investigation is still ongoing.
The durbar festival is an annual event which is usually celebrated at the end of Ramadan and during Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
