BAUCHI, Nigeria – Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed five commissioners from his cabinet and submitted eight nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The cabinet reshuffle was announced on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in a statement by Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
According to the statement, the shake-up reflects the administration’s commitment to injecting fresh ideas and energy into governance to address emerging challenges effectively.
Commissioners Affected
The dismissed commissioners are:
- Jamila Dahiru – Commissioner of Education
- Abdulhameed Bununu – Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs
- Usman Danturaki – Commissioner of Information and Communication
- Madugu Yalams – Commissioner of Agriculture
- Yakubu Ibrahim – Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation
Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and contributions to the administration’s policies and initiatives, particularly in promoting growth and development across Bauchi State.
New Nominees for Cabinet Roles
In a bid to maintain momentum and enhance governance, the governor has nominated the following individuals as replacements:
- Babayo Tilde – Toro Local Government
- Abdullahi Mohammed – Misau Local Government
- Bala Lukshi – Dass Local Government
- Usman Shehu – Shira Local Government
- Iliyasu Gital – Tafawa Balewa Local Government
- Titus Ketkukah – Tafawa Balewa Local Government
- Babayo Gabarin – Darazo Local Government
- Lawal Rimin Zayam – Toro Local Government
These nominees are expected to be screened and confirmed by the state House of Assembly in the coming days.
