One person has been killed and 10 others abducted in a bandit attack, which occurred on Friday, April 9, 2021, in Gurmana community in Shiroro local government area of Niger state.
Karibo, Shekadna, Kokki, Sarkin Zama, Bakin Kogi (Lagbe), Maganda, and other adjoining Villages all under Gurmana district were invaded by the bandits.
The District Head of Sarkin Zama and several others, who sustained various degrees of gunshot injuries, are on admission at various health facilities in Kuta, the headquarters of Shiroro local government.
The bandits went around the communities burning down houses and barns where yams and grains were stored.
They invaded the communities in large numbers on motorcycles, shooting sporadically, eyewitnesses said.
Yusuf Abubakar Kokki, the co-Convener of the Shiroro Youths Association, confirmed the incident.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger Police public relations officer, has not responded to calls and texts as at the time of filing this report.
