JUST IN: Bandits Kill 3 Police Officers, 5 Vigilantes In Kogi

Three police officers and five local vigilantes were on Saturday, July 30, 2022, ambushed and killed in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi state.

The officers were on a stint operation to Ajaokuta LGA when they met their death by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The security officers were said to have received distress calls from some community members that unknown gunmen are hibernating on their farms.

On receipt of the calls, the Divisional Police officer of Adogo command was said to have mobilised his men to comb the area before they were ambush and killed by the hoodlums.

Confirming the killings, the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omadara (rtd) said that the 3 police officers and five members of local vigilantes were killed in an ambush on Saturday.

According to him, Divisional police officer, acting on an intelligence report that hoodlums had invaded their farms and engaged in illegal activities, mobilised officers in collaboration with local vigilantes and headed for the area

“They were however ambushed and in the process Eight of them were killed including three Police Officers and five members of the local vigilantes”.

Omadara however said that no matter what, the state government will not rest until the culprits were brought to book.
