Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Raka village of Tangaza Local Government Area in Sokoto State and burnt down many houses and food items before they made away with an undisclosed number of domestic animals.
According to news reports, on Friday, December 16, 2022, that a 120-year-old woman and five other community members were also killed by the marauders.
When contacted on phone, the district head of the area, Alhaji Sa’idu Wakili confirmed the attack, saying that although no one was kidnapped, the bandits burnt down two-thirds of the houses and food items and also rustled cattle.
He urged the federal and state governments to intensify more efforts toward solving the security challenges in the area.
The district head also called on wealthy individuals in the axis to formulate formidable means of protecting the lives and properties of the people in the area.
The acting chairman of Tangaza Local Government Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal Junju, accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Roads Maintenance, Engr. Mai Damma Tangaza visited the community and commiserated with the villagers and also promised to forward his findings to the government for necessary assistance to the victims.

How Bandits Conducted House-To-House Raid In Community, Abducted 44 People
About 44 people have been kidnapped by bandits from Kanwa community in the Zurmi Local government Area of Zamfara State.
A source told Daily Post that the bandits moved from house to house on Thursday, November 17, 2022.
The source added that the community of late has experienced pockets of attacks by the bandits, lamenting that the situation has caused fear in the hearts of the residents.
A notorious bandit leader called Dankarami, according to the source, is alleged to have led the mass abduction of the people in the community.
He further explained that Dankarami has been terrorizing residents of Zurmi – Birnin Magaji – Jibia axis in Zamfara and neighbouring Katsina states, saying that his activities have caused serious setbacks in all spheres of life to the people.
Following the abduction of the 44 persons, the bandits were yet to call relatives of the victims to demand for ransom.
Muhammad Shehu, the spokesman of the state police command, could not be reached to confirm the incident.
Nasarawa: Bandits Invade Civil Defence Commander’s Home, Abduct Wife
The wife of the Commander, Nigeria Security, and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC’s Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Deputy Commandant Apollos Dandaura, has been abducted in Nasarawa State.
Daily Trust gathered that the abductors, who were carrying AK-47 rifles, invaded the victim’s residence and started shooting sporadically to scare residents before they took her away.
Daily Trust learnt that the Commander’s younger brother, who is also a personnel of the NSCDC, was shot during the incident in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.
He is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Lafia and is reportedly responding to treatment.
The incident, our correspondent gathered, occurred on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at about 8:30pm.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent on Thursday, November 3, 2022, the Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command of NSCDC, Mr Jerry Victor, stated that the whereabouts of the victim was still unknown.
According to him, the command had already deployed its personnel to the area in order to rescue the victim unhurt, adding that the kidnappers are yet to reach out to the command and the family of the victim.
