3 Security Personnel Killed In Ambush In Kaduna

Armed bandits have killed three security personnel and injured two others in Dande Village around Buruku in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.

The security personnel who were ambushed by the bandits on their way from Damba-Kasaya in the Buruku, were personnel of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, KADVIS.

This is coming as bandits on Tuesday, also opened fire on motorists close to the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, access road, in Igabi local government area. Troops responded and repelled the bandits.

Confirming the developments in a statement on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan conveyed Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s condolences to the families of the killed KADVIS personnel.

According to Aruwan, “the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, KADVIS, has informed the Kaduna State Government, that the service lost three personnel on Tuesday night in Chikun local government area.

“According to the service, bandits ambushed the personnel at Dande village on their way from Damba-Kasaya in the Buruku general area.

“The identities of the slain personnel are: Alison Musa, Dauda Audu, and Ishaya Sarki. Those injured are: Ayuba Tanko and Doza Adamu.

“Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has sent condolences to their families and prayed for the repose of their souls, while wishing those that sustained injuries speedy recovery.

“The Governor has also commended land and air troops of Operation Thunder Strike for a successful operation around Kuku area, at the Kagarko local government axis of Kaduna-Abuja Road.

“The Governor said he received with gratitude, information that the first air strikes hit some of the target structures and neutralized some of the bandits, while the second wave of attacks was executed by a Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunships which provided close air support to the troops on the ground as they advanced from Kagarko via Kuku into the bandits’ enclave.

“Similarly, armed bandits on Tuesday opened fire on motorists close to the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, access road, in Igabi local government area. Troops responded and repelled the bandits.

“Citizens will continue to be informed of the security situation. Government appeals for vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious movements and activities to the security agencies or through the security operations room numbers and e-mail address: 09034000060, 08170189999. [email protected],” he said.

In another statement, Governor El-Rufa’i commended the Atyap community of Zangon Kataf local government for upholding peace following the killing of the District Head of Gidan Zaki, Haruna Kuye, and his son on Tuesday.

The Governor expressed heartfelt appreciation to the entire Atyap community under the leadership of the paramount chief, HRH Dominic Gambo Yahaya KSM, who has been working tirelessly to contain threats to security in his domain and promote peace in all its communities.

“The state government acknowledges and commends communities and leaders in Atyap chiefdom and other stakeholders who have been playing supportive roles in complementing the efforts of HH Dominic Gambo Yahaya and members of the Atyap Traditional Council in the vital task of peace-building.”
