Couple Married For 75 Years Dies In Each Other’s Arm (PHOTOS)

Must read

After 75 years of being together, a loving old couple had finally died in each others embrace few hours apart.

In a scene reminiscent of the Ryan Gosling weepy, The Notebook, 96-year-old Jeanette Toczko was still clutching the hand of her 95-year-old husband, Alexander Toczko, when she died less than 24 hours after him, Metro UK reported.

The deceased duo who hail from San Diego, California tied the knots in 1940 after they met when they were eight.

Their marriage produced five children and 10 grandchildren before Mr Toczko’s health began to deteriorate after he broke his hips.

Their son identified as Richard, said, “They were boyfriend and girlfriend when they were 8 years old.”

Mrs Toczko’s health status followed suit which left the old lovebirds confined to a bed and wishing they would die together.

Their children arranged for a local hospice to provide a special bed to allow the couple to spend their last days side by side and when death came calling, Mr Toczko, answered first before his wife followed suit hours later.

The couple’s daughter, Aimee Toczko-Cushman, said their mum’s reaction when the news was broken to her was quite emotional.

She said, “‘When I told my mother that he was gone, she hugged him and she said, “See this is what you wanted. You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, and wait for me, I’ll be there soon.

“My dad carried around a picture of my mother in her Holy Communion outfit in his wallet.”

Continuing, Toczko-Cushman, said, “Even the hospice nurse said it was the most incredible thing to see the two of them taking those last breaths together.”
