The youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Tuesday, July 2, 2015 said they would no longer tolerate provocation meted out to Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekwewremadu, stating that an attacking on the highest Igbo man holding a legislative position in the national assembly is an attack on Ndigbo.
A statement signed by President of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Mazi Okechukwu Isinguzoro, warned that the plots by to remove Ekweremadu would disrupt the political equation of country thereby throwing the unity of the Nigeria into jeopardy.
According to ThisDay the group’s leader futher stressed that any move to snatch that mandate from us shall be treated as an attempt to remove Ndigbo from Nigerian political equation and will be resisted.
He advised the Inspector General Of Police, Solomon Arase to desist from being used against Ndigbo.
The group accused accused the Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being behindthe plot to remove Ekweremadu. They asked the former Lagos governor “to re-trace his steps forthwith or we shall declare him an enemy of Ndigbo”.
Meanwhile, a political pressure group, Democracy In Action (DIA) urged the APC to drop its attempt to remove Ekwewremadu.
A statement signed by Dr. Daniel Abraham by in Umuahia, stated that the emergence of Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu as leaders of the Senate was a democratic process.
