Former Nigerian Vice president and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar and former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu on Friday, November 14, 2014 held separate private meetings with former president Olusegun Obasanjo at his Hilltop presidential residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which according to reports was not unconnected with the upcoming 2015 general elections.
Tinubu, who is the national leader of the APC had paid a similar visit to Obasanjo, although he did not talk to newsmen on this occasion as he left the palatial residence at about 12:30 pm.
Atiku arrived two hours after Tinubu had left, after paying a visit to Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosu, spending about 45 minutes with his former boss before both men came out of the inner chamber from where they headed to another wing of the building to have lunch.
After the meal, he told journalists that he and Obasanjo enjoyed a cordial relationship, negating the rumours making the rounds, although he refused to give details of their discussions.
He said: “I came to pay my respect to my former boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo and we discussed the state of the nation generally.”
