ABUJA, Nigeria – The Special Assistant on Public Communication to the 2023 People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Phrank Shaibu, has asserted that within the first 40 days of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, poverty levels have increased and inflation has escalated significantly in Nigeria.
In a statement on Sunday, July 9, 2023, Shaibu argued that the economic policies of Tinubu’s administration have made Nigerians more susceptible to manipulation, with the purchasing power of citizens falling significantly due to what he described as “an unplanned petrol subsidy removal, which was not accompanied by any form of palliative.”
Shaibu pointed out that food prices have become exorbitant, making food a luxury for many Nigerians.
He further criticized the administration by stating, “With just N1,000, any riffraff on the street could be handed a t-shirt and placard to engage in protests they know nothing about. This is how low Nigeria has sunk low since Tinubu took over the reins of government.”
These comments are part of the broader criticism faced by Tinubu’s administration amid economic struggles.
However, the government has yet to respond to these recent allegations from the PDP.
