Assailant Stabs 2 Sudan Presidential Guards To Death

This was disclosed by the press secretary of the Sudan president who said the  “insane” attacker had stabbed a guard and forcefully dispossessed him of his gun in a bid to kill him.

It was learnt that during the process, the hoodlum shot another guard before other troops at the palace allegedly opened fire on him and killed him.

President Omar Hassan al-Bashir was not in Khartoum’s Republican Palace when the attack took place on Saturday, Emad Ahmed told Reuters.

He said, “A little while ago someone attacked soldiers who guarded one of the gates of the palace and [the soldiers] fired on him.”

“[He] did not respond to calls to stop and was shot dead. Two soldiers were killed during the attack by someone who seemed to be suffering from a mental illness,” he added.

He also revealed that investigations into the matter have taken its full course.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Sudan Army, Colonel Al-Sawarmy Khaled Saad identified the assailant as Salah Kafi Quwa,who hails from Kadugli town in South Kordofan state,an area renowned for fighting the Khartoum government.
