As Predicted, EFCC Boss Set To Shun Senate Invitation (SEE LETTER)

Must read

As earlier reported, The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde may not honour the invitation handed to him by the Senate over allegations of diverting about N1 trillion.

According to a letter addressed to the Senate by Lamorde and made available to The Cable, the Chairman of the anti-graft body said he would not be honouring the invitation because of “constraints of time” nature of the operations of the EFCC.

The letter, which was dated, Monday, August 24, 2015 stated that renowned audit firm, KPMG, had already be contracted to help audit the accounts of the commission since last year and the result of the audit (which covers the time of the proposed senate investigation) would be ready in 3 weeks time.

The letter reads:

“Sir, by our understanding the committee (ethics, privileges and public petitions) would like to have comorehensive information of all recovered, forfeited or restituted funds and property in defense of the said “charges”.

“In view of this you are kindly invited to note that the commission had since May 2014 commissioned KPMG to carry out an independent an thorough audit of same from the inception of the commission till date in all six geo-political zones of the federation where we have offices.

“We shall submit the report to the national assembly as part of our annual report and to the committee in particular in about three weeks when we must have finished reconciliation with the audit firm.”
