Arsenal’s Chilean international, Alexis Sanchez will miss the start of the season following his spell at the Copa America.
The 26 year old participated and helped his native to win the Copa America hosted in Chile.
He scored 25 goals in his debut season for the Gunners as they finished third in the Premier League and won the FA Cup.
Arsene Wenger said: “Alexis will be back with us on 3 August and usually it takes three weeks to be competitive.”
“With Alexis it could be a bit less. He will miss certainly the first game.”
Sanchez will miss the Community Shield against Chelsea on 2 August.
The Gunners first Premier League encounter is against West Ham on Sunday, August 9, 2015.
Reports suggest that Sanchez would require a full three weeks to be match fit which means he could also miss games against Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
Chiles final against Argentina where Sanchez scored the winning penalty as hosts Chile claimed their first Copa title marked the end of a 58-game season for the former Barcelona forward.
