NAN – The Police on Wednesday arraigned one Umar Abdulsalam, an Architect, in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court on three-count charge.
The charges are criminal breach of trust, cheating and misappropriation.
The police prosecutor, Cpl Frances Tanko, told the court that one Adamu Baba of Nigeria Confederation Secondary School, reported Abdulsalam to the police.
He said that Baba paid in the sum of N5.5million into the accused account at Guaranty Trust bank with number 0023107682.
The prosecutor said that the money was to process the approval for the building plan of ANCOPSS Secretariat along Kuje, Gwagwalada road in Abuja.
He told the court that the accused converted the money for his personal use.
Tanko said that during police investigation N2.5million was recovered from the accused.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 312, 322 and 309 of penal code law.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Chinyere Nwacheonwu , granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 and a surety who reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
She ordered that the surety must not be below GL 10 and must present the original appointment letter for sighting by court.
Nwacheonwu then adjourned the matter to March 9 for hearing.
