The All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State chapter, has announced the suspension of the party’s registration and revalidation exercise in the state by the National Caretaker Committee of the party.
According to a statement on Thursday, February 11, 2021, by the state’s Caretaker Publicity Secretary, Sylvester Imonina Esq., the suspension came following “pockets of complaints of some few persons.”
It also denied allegations that the APC caretaker chairman, Jones Erue, in connivance with the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, diverted materials for the exercise, adding that members of the registration/revalidation committee from Abuja, have had no interference from the state.
Positing that the complaints arose from desperate political jobbers within the party who are seeking the removal of the party chairman, Erue, by all means, the statement urged all APC faithful to remain calm.
The statement reads thus: “All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State herein formally inform teeming Party’s Faithful that following the National Caretaker Committee of the Party have deemed it necessary to suspend all registration and revalidation exercise in the State.
“Though, the Party was/is aware that members of the public and Party’s faithful were in high spirit and were looking forward to taking Delta APC to a higher level by mobilizing all and sundry who believe in the Party for the exercise; unfortunately, the expectation of Party’s faithful had been put on hold for no fault of theirs! In fact, the suspension of the exercise came when it was least expected.
“As at yesterday, the 9th of February, 2021, those to man the 25 LGAs as supervisors were trained. Meanwhile, there were preparations for the training of those to man the Wards and Units levels today, 10th of February, 2021, and tomorrow, 11th of February, 2021.
“The Party states unequivocally that in line with the agreement reached by the major Leaders of the Party in the State, the leaders were granted the indulgence to suggest names of those to represent their interest at all levels.
“The Party at States level, particularly in Delta State were not given the opportunity to make an input on those to be in charge of the exercise in the State. It might interest everyone to know that even the Chairman of the Party in the State, Prophet Jones Ode Erue had no input on who and/ or those to man the Units in his Ward!
“In spite of the above observed anomaly, members of the Committee sent from Abuja have being following religiously the directive of the National without interference from the State.
“Moreover, it should be noted that as at today, no material in connection with the exercise had been distributed. Why the hullabaloo by some featherweight politicians! We dare to say that a politician who knows his or her onions will not act as a clog to the registration of his Party members because of unfounded rumours.
“It is surprising that some persons who do not have the interest of the Party at heart decided to feed some Party Leaders and Stakeholders outside the State with false information that the State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Party, Prophet Jones Ode Erue had diverted materials for the exercise in connivance with His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege. Nothing is farther from the truth than this!
“The Party is not unaware of the fact that a handful political desperados who want the State Chairman of the Party removed at all cost are the merchants of this present political assault on the Party. The said false alarm that led to the truncate of the exercise as scheduled should be condemn in its entirety.
“All Party’s faithful are urged to remain calm. They should not be downcast by the little setback foisted on us all by those misinformed by ‘home enemies’ who do not wish the Party well.”
