Must read

The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 raised an alarm, claiming that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had perfected plans to conduct a fake PDP rally aimed at getting PDP candidates disqualified ahead of the forthcoming polls.

According to the electoral law, campaigns are supposed to end 48 hours before the commencement of elections.

Making the alleged plot known via a statement, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Lagos State, Taofik Gani said the APC was determined to get its candidates disqualified.

Part of the statement read: “The instruction is pertinent and expedient as the party has got winds of APC’s plans to use fake PDP campaign groups to hold rallies on Friday with the motive of accusing the PDP of flouting electoral guideline on deadline for campaigns.”

Gani used the opportunity to remind and instruct its member and candidates to end all campaigns by midnight on Thursday, March 26, 2015, adding that any group rallying on behalf of the PDP after 12 midnight did not have the approval of the party.

He further called on the Police Force to arrest any group claiming to be holding rallies on behalf on the PDP after Thursday, March 26, 2015.
