Timi Frank, the deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has demanded the resignation of the party’s national working committee.
Frank made the demand in an interview with journalists in Abuja, on Friday, July 29, 2016.
According to Mr. Frank, the crisis in various state chapters of the party and the scandal in the House of Representatives are a clear indication that the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC had lost control of the party.
According to him, it stands logic on the head for the leadership of the APC to stay aloof while its members in the House of Representatives tear one another apart, stressing that it is not only a disgrace to the actors but also to the party on whose platform they earned their place in the hallowed chambers.
“The happening in the National Assembly is very embarrassing not only to the party but also to Nigerians,” Frank said.
“The silence of my party (over these issues) all the time is not good for our party, it’s not good for our government.
“If the leadership of this party under Oyegun cannot do this job, they should resign for people who can.
“The current leadership of the party under (John Odigie-) Oyegun has failed; it means it is not competent. The job of the leadership of the party is not just to conduct primaries alone, it is also to reconcile aggrieved members.
“Tell me one crisis that has rocked the APC either in states or at the national level that the leadership under Oyegun has resolved, not even one. I can confirm to you.”
He accused the party leadership of failing to intervene in the confrontation between Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Frank argued that the situation was a big embarrassment to the party.
He also said, “If the NWC cannot do it, I am pleading with leaders of our party to please wade into this crisis rocking the House of Representatives.
“As a party, as of now, we should have invited Jubrin to explain why he is doing what he is doing,” he added.
