As earlier predicted, many leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 stood away from the presentation of three books written in honour of the former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola.
Also missing from the event were members of fashola’s cabinet, his two former deputy governors and members of the Lagos State APC Executive CommitteeThe three books to presented were titled, ‘In Bold Print’, ‘The Lagos Blowdown’ and ‘The Great Leap’ and were authored by Fashola’s media aide, Mr. Hakeem Bello; and Mr. Dapo Adeniyi.Although his perceived godfather and former governor, Bola Tinubu sent a representative in the person of – Prof. Tunde Samuel – the absence of major APC leaders and governors was a sharp contrast to a similar book launch in honour of the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi held in Lagos three months ago.
At Amaechi’s book presentation, Tinubu along with Governor Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Governor Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Governor Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Governor Samuel Lalong (Plateau), Governor Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State all graced the occasion.
Tinubu’s absence, together with that of top APC leaders further fuel speculations that his relationship with Fashola may indeed by strained.
