ABUJA, Nigeria – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the dissolution of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), which was established in September last year to manage the 2023 presidential election campaign. The news was shared on Sunday, April 23, 2023, in a tweet by Bashir Ahmad, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital Communications.

Headed by Plateau state Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, as director-general, and Hon. James Faleke as secretary, the council expressed its gratitude to all members, leaders, and supporters for their diligent work in securing the election victory of president-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

In a statement jointly signed by Lalong and Faleke, and obtained by The Trent, the APC on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, president-elect Bola Tinubu, and other leaders, thanked everyone involved in the successful campaign.

“The journey has been a worthy one with our hard-won victory. The credit goes to all our members particularly the leaders and members of the various campaign directorates,” the statement said in part.

The statement highlighted the council’s decision to dissolve as a way to refocus its efforts towards the upcoming May 29, 2023, the inauguration of president-elect Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The process of transitioning into a new era of a Renewed Hope is underway and all our energies and activities must reflect the principles underlying this process,” it read.

The council encouraged all to remain involved in Nigeria’s political process and advocate for issues important to them, emphasizing that a stronger democracy is achieved through active and patriotic participation.
