ONITSHA, Nigeria – In a significant political endorsement, the leaders and citizens of Anambra North have declared their support for Valentine Ozigbo in the upcoming 2025 Anambra State Governorship election.
The declaration was made during a well-attended interactive session in Onitsha, where stakeholders expressed their backing for Ozigbo, a Labour Party aspirant.
During the event, Ozigbo expressed his gratitude towards the people of Anambra North for their continued support and shared his vision for the state.
“I’m glad and consider it a great privilege being here in your midst today to strategize on how to make Anambra State work again through us,” Ozigbo, the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, said.
The respected business leader emphasised his commitment to leveraging his extensive experience in business and philanthropy to address key issues such as the economy, security, education, agriculture, tourism, and hospitality.
Highlighting the strategic improvements he plans to bring, Ozigbo pointed out the potential of Onitsha as a commercial hub and the Ogbaru and Omambala areas as agricultural centers.
He promised effective management of seasonal flooding and assured that security would be a top priority under his governance.
The session also featured endorsements from various political and community leaders. Barr. Nonso Nwaebili, a local barrister, praised Ozigbo’s readiness to lead, describing the election as a “battle of the Titans.”
Azuka Enemo, Ozigbo’s running mate in the 2021 governorship election, called on the community to unite under the Labour Party to ensure victory.
She pointed out the importance of staying in Nigeria to fight for good governance, reflecting the sentiment of many at the meeting.
Further support came from Hon. Engr Emeka Idu and Hon. Afam Ogene, who both highlighted the critical issues of insecurity and the need for strong leadership to address the state’s challenges.
Ozigbo concluded the event by reiterating his commitment to transforming Anambra State. “We are in this project to win,” he affirmed, promising to make Anambra proud and to honor the legacy of national leaders like Peter Obi.
