Anambra Schools Resumption Date Moved To January 26

The second wave of COVID -19 has forced Anambra Government to shift resumption of schools from January 18 to 26.

The government also threatened to shut down markets if they are found violating COVID-19 protocols after one week.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this in Awka on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, during a broadcast on the second wave of COVID -19

Obiano said: “Schools in Anambra shall not re-open on January 18, 2021, as earlier scheduled. Rather, schools will re-open after two weeks from today to enable the principals and teachers prepare for the return of our children.

“Churches and other religious organizations are advised to set up action teams and go back to the practices that helped us in the first phase of the pandemic.

“We shall align with any policy on a possible nationwide curfew by the Federal Government to ensure effective compliance.

“Our test centers are active and ready to handle cases with impressive turnaround time. We have cascaded our sample collection to all the 21 local government areas in the state.

“For the sake of emphasis, nobody should go to any market, public places, churches, schools, enter any transport, attend functions as stated above without properly wearing of facemasks.”
