Must read

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has banned the storage and sale of gun powder and other explosives in the state few days ago.

He made this declaration at Bright Street Main Market Onitsha during a visit to a site of fire accident which allegedly started from a shop filled with gun powder, explosives and other spiritual materials.

The governor warned that henceforth, the sale and storage of these materials is forbidden except a police permit is obtained which will control the sale and storage of such materials.

He commiserated with the victims of the accident and promised that proper investigation would be duly carried out by the government and the culprit would be brought to book.

The victims are counting their losses as goods worth over 50 million were razed down by the outbreak.

However, he advised traders to ensure they have fire extinguishers in their shops in case of a fire accident.

He was glad and commended the firefighters who were able to put out the fire with the help of the equipment provided by his administration two months earlier.
