Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, flagbearer for the November 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, was in Enugu on Friday, July 2, 2021, to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Governor Ugwuanyi congratulated Ozigbo on his victory at the June 26 PDP primary election, especially with the professional way he conducted his pre-primary campaign and his moves to unite other aspirants, leaders, and stakeholders of the party.
In his remarks, Mr Ozigbo thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for his leadership role in the run-up to the primary. He praised the Enugu State governor for pushing for cohesion among the aspirants and party faithful.
The respected business mogul also appreciated Governor Ugwuanyi for pledging to support him and the party to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious at the forthcoming election.
“As the leader of the PDP in the South East, I am delighted to inform you that the primary election was free, fair, and transparent. I also commend my fellow aspirants, who have so far, have demonstrated an excellent spirit of sportsmanship,” Ozigbo said.
“The victory is not just for me alone; it is for us as a family. I, therefore, call on PDP members worldwide to see winning the November elections as our collective next project.
“We are going into this election as one strong, united, and peaceful family, and this is because of the strong leadership you and other PDP leaders have shown.
“By the grace of God, we will win the governorship of Anambra by a landslide victory,” Ozigbo declared.
The National Vice Chairman of the PDP (South East), Chief Ali Odefa, and the PDP Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2019 general election, His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi led the high-profile delegation to the meeting held at Enugu Government House
Several directors in the VCO Campaign Organisation joined Ozigbo for the courtesy visit. They are Rt. Hon. Eucharia Azodo, the Director for Women and Religious Organisations; Hon. Tim Egboka, the Director of Contacts and Mobilisation; Hon. Barr. Valentine Ayika, the Director of Media and Strategy; and Chief Ejike Oguebego, the Director of Inter-Party and Intra-Party Affairs.
Other PDP stalwarts present were Chief Alex Obiogbolu, a former governorship hopeful; Chief Benji Uba, Chief Felix Umeh, and Chief Damian Nwafor.
Ozigbo emerged as the PDP candidate for the Anambra governorship election on Saturday, June 26, 2021, after polling a majority of the votes at the primary held at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka. He received his certificate of return from Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the PDP, after the party’s National Working Committee had certified his victory.
