Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode has given directives for the Deputy Governor, Dr. Mrs. Oluranti Adebule to provide immediate rehabilitation and welfare for the mother of three set of twins, Mrs. Ruth Uche whose husband abandoned after she was delivered of yet another set of twins in Agege area of the state.
The Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna revealed this in a statement released on Friday, July 3, 2015. This directive from Governor Ambode came on the heels of media publication detailing the situation the woman was in.
According to the Governor, the plight of the woman and her children and that as a government, it was responsible for the general welfare of the people in the state regardless of ethnic, religious and or political affiliation. He also assured Lagosians that his administration would provide good leadership which will make provision for the adequate protection of lives and property.
The governor acknowledged the present state of the economy in the country but also stated that it was highly improper for anyone to abandon his family especially as regards the children who they willingly brought into existence. He further said that should the children be properly taken care of, they could become responsible citizens while achieving their full potentials.
