New York fashion photograph Stacy Leigh has an unusual obsession; she likes to photograph sex dolls to look as lifelike as possible.
The 43-year-old, who now owns 12 sex dolls, explained how her obsession started: ‘I watched a TV show called Real Sex on HBO that featured real dolls.
‘I had always wanted a lifesize doll, as I have been collecting small fashion dolls since I was a child.
‘I perused the internet with the intention of using a love doll as my sitting model for photography.
‘When my first doll arrived, I began to photograph her and the rest is history.’
Over the past decade sex dolls have become ever more realistic, and dolls such as the ones Stacy photographs cost up to £4,000 each.
They’re also highly personalised, and buyers can customise everything from hair and eye colour to breast size and vagina.
And if some of Stacey’s dolls look familiar, that’s because they’ve been modelled on the likes of Elizabeth Hurley (top), Britney Spears (above), and Cheryl Cole (below).
Stacy Leigh has called this series of photographs ‘Real Americans’, and hopes they will help to dispell some of the stigma around the use of sex dolls.
She explained: ‘Men and women both use the dolls as replacements for human companionship, whether by choice or necessity.’
‘I believe it’s perfectly fine if it makes one’s journey through life more bearable.’
