Rotimi Amaechi, the embattled minister of transportation, on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Gokana told a scanty Rivers State All Progressives Congress, APC, crowd that failed President Muhammadu Buhari has given him the military and police to prosecute the rerun elections slated for December 10, 2016.
The former Rivers governor who spent close to N90 billion funding Buhari’s election assured the remnants of APC supporters that with the retirement of Solomon Arase the police is now at the beck and call of APC.
Amaechi claimed that the APC would ‘release boys to march’ People’s Democratic Party, PDP, supporters and chase them away from voting centres.
He said that PDP members and leaders are afraid of death, hence violence should be unleashed on them.
Amaechi, however, refused to comment on the printing of fake electoral materials by Rivers APC when our correspondent approached him.
Close to 200 soldiers and 400 mobile policemen provided security for the meeting that had less than 1,500 persons mobilised from Port Harcourt in attendance.
The soldiers shot sporadically into the air as Amaechi hurried out of Gokana following celebration by PDP members in a neighbouring community in Gokana.
