Hijab Is Not Allowed In Our Schools – Kwara Baptists

Must read

Members of the Kwara Baptist Conference on Sunday, March 21, 2021, staged a peaceful protest in Ilorin, the state capital against hijab-wearing in grant-aided mission schools.

The protest took place in the premises of First Baptist Church Ilorin in Surulere, Ilorin with members wielding placards.

Some of the placards read: ‘no hijab in Baptist schools and other mission schools,’ ‘give us back our schools,’ ‘let peace reign in the state of harmony’ and ‘no religious violence in Kwara.’

Addressing journalists President, Kwara Baptist Conference Rev (Dr) Victor Dada said: “We want to reiterate that under no circumstances will we allow the wearing of hijab in our schools. The schools are our heritage and legacy bequeathed to us by our forefathers.

“We are requesting that the state government should immediately reopen our schools without wearing of hijab.

“What we are saying is ‘give us back our schools.’ But if the state government is bent on running the schools, we want to say we will henceforth not allow hijab or Muslims in our schools.

“If peradventure, the government’s posture does not allow our children to do their WAEC this year, posterity will judge those who are at the helm of affairs accordingly.”
