A distressed call from a young man to the Rivers rerun situation room is unearthing a can of worms and complicity by the military to undermine electoral process in Rivers State.
According to the distressed caller, his sister, Juliet Kobani, was sent to Isaka in Okrika Local Government Areas as an INEC adhoc staff to conduct the elections on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Juliet, it was said, sent a distress call to him that she was kidnapped by the military and forced to thumbprint ballot papers in a gun boat at sea.
Earlier, Okrikans had raised an alarm about the interference of the military in the electoral process and the hijacking of ballot papers for Ward 12, Isaka, said to be thumb-printed in a gun-boat left at sea.
Isaka, the most populated ward in Okrika with about 11,000 votes is the homeland of Chief Ibibia Walter, who was abducted earlier in the day sending signals that the military may have a hand in the kidnap of PDP State Scribe, whose location remains unknown.
