A man believed to be a senior Al-Shabaab intelligence commander has been killed in a drone strike by the United States in south Somalia in the late hours of Thursday, March 12, 2015.A local district commissioner in Garbaharey town, Mohamed Ali, stated that the the drone strike hit two vehicles carrying three senior Al- Shabaab commanders to Gedo region along the Somalia-Kenya border.Ali said, “The strike was targeting one of the senior intelligence commanders, Aden Garar and his team.”
According to
reports, residents in the area said they heard huge explosions. Witnesses said the two vehicles were completely destroyed.
The murder came up moments after the Al-Shabaab terrorist launched an attack at a regional administration headquarters in central Somalia, killing 10 people and leaving a host of other persons with varied injuries.The US has been killed some top chiefs of the group in a number of air strikes targeted at nipping their activities in the bud.
