The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, was in Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday, January 22, 2016 as part of his tour of states. In Uyo, the state’s capital, Adeboye held a Holy Ghost Rally to a packed crowd.
At the rally, Governor Udom Emmanuel preached to the crowd essentially reminding them that Akwa Ibom State is the only state in Nigeria named after God. He revealed that the full name of Akwa Ibom is Akwa Abasi Ibom, which means the Mighty God of Hosts.
The event was themed ‘Divine Visitation’ and in his remarks, Udom said, “God is visiting us to forgive us, to forgive the sins of the state, to forgive the sins of our forefathers, to forgive the sins of our ancestors. He also said that the people of Akwa Ibom should expect the unexpected at the Holy Ghost rally because ”once there is Holy Ghost, expect the unexpected, expect what man can’t do.”
The words of the Governor was well received by the crowd who gave him a standing ovation.
Udom’s challenger, Umana Umana of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was at the event. He did not appear happy with the reception that the crowd gave Governor Udom’s message.
Adeboye, had earlier visited Rivers State where he met with Governor Nyesom Wike.
