Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State have emerged victorious in their respective states, where they both contested Senatorial seats on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Governor Akpabio, who contested for the Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District polled 422,009 votes to beat his closest rival, Inebehe Okorie of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 15,1542 votes.
Governor Orji on his own part garnered 46,070 votes to defeat Ahamdi Nweke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who got 10,204, thereby winning the Abia Central Senatorial election.
