Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has approved the appointment of 19 new Permanent Secretaries.
Among those appointed is a journalist, Mrs. Julie Fayehun.
A statement on Monday, March 8, 2021, by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akeredolu, Olabode Richard Olatunde, said the Governor also approved the appointment of three Tutors-General and the state Statistician-General.
The statement said the appointment was to encourage hard work and reward dedication in the state civil service.
It said Mr. Abiodun Akintade was appointed Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service (Central) while R.O Agunbiade was appointed Statistician-General.
Those appointed as Tutors-General for the Teaching Service were Abiodun Emmanuel Akinfemisoye (Central) Ilesanmi Naphis Irinyemi (South) and Olu Bolanle Obameso (North).
The statement further said the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, Tutors-General, and Statistician-General would be sworn-in on Wednesday, March 10.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has thanked Governor Akeredolu for breaking the jinx by appointing a journalist as PS.
Ondo Chairman of NUJ, Adetona Aderoboye said Governor Akeredolu has corrected the injustice meted to journalists in the civil service.
“This appointment is so significant that it will further encourage our members to put in their best in the service of the state, knowing fully well that they will surely get to the Zenith of their career.”
