A moving news video by AIT on the 13-year-old Ese Oruru who was abducted from her home in Bayelsa by an Islamist and traced to the palace of the Emir of Kano. She was abducted in August 2015. In September, her mother traced her to the Emir’s palace. According to the Emir Sanusi II, he ordered her release to her parents last September.
It wasn’t until non-government organisations like KHAN took up a campaign for Ese’s release and the media like The Trent, which first reported the story of her abduction and Punch joined the campaign that it came to national attention.
