Despite pre-election promises made by her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari not to have an “office of the first lady”, Aisha Buhari seems to have assumed the role, and in grand style too, as she on Saturday, June 13, 2015 hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) women and youths to an elaborate reception at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The reception, tagged “Appreciation Dinner” was held in order to to thank the guests for working for the victory of her husband in the Saturday, March 28, 2015 presidential election.
Although it is yet to be ascertained if the bills for the event was catered for by state funds, the APC or personal funds, it was attended by notable women leaders of the party including the wife of newly elected House of Assembly leaders – Toyin Saraki and Gimbia Dogara.
Others at the event were former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, APC women’s leader Ramatu Tijani, wife of the Imo State governor, Mrs. Nkechi Okorocha, and wife of the APC national chairman, Victoria John Oyegun.
The hall, according to reports, was filled to the brim.
