Meet the quadruplets born against the odds who are 25 million-to-one miracles of nature.
Jake, Alfie, William and Sam Thomson, who were naturally conceived, are one of only 70 sets of identical quadruplets believed to be in the world.
Their parents, Becky, 29, and Barrie, 36, were not expecting four kids at a go when they knew they were pregnant.
The couple who also have three-year-old daughter Olivia, joked about another mom who was expecting quads when they went for their first scan, only to receive same news about their pregnancy.
Becky explains: “At my first scan there was a mum with four kids. I whispered to Barrie ‘imagine five, I don’t think I could cope’. Half an hour later that was us.”
The boys were born at 31 at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary in December 2013.
One of the boys, Alfie has cerebral palsy, but Becky, of Carlisle, says: “He is our little fighter and so special.”
A DNA test proves the boys are identical, but their mother can tell her boys apart. Of course she should.
She admits the last nine months have been a blur, but says: “Hearing all our boys laugh at once makes it all worth it.”
Children are a blessing. Four at once may seem like a burden but in reality it is four times the joy.
