Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed his confidence in Allah’s support as he awaited the conclusion of the governorship election conducted last Saturday.
Fintiri, who contested the election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that he was not perturbed by the inconclusive nature of the election, as he believed that Allah would make the people in the state come out and vote for him.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Fintiri said, “This time around, Allah will repeat history in my favour. The Adamawa people will decide and vote for me massively. I’m certain I will have majority votes by the grace of Allah.”
Results seen so far suggest that he and his closest rival, Aishatu Ahmed Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are the leading candidates. However, the governorship election results are still being awaited, and it is unclear who will emerge as the winner.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the election, Fintiri remains steadfast in his belief that Allah will ensure that he is declared the winner.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians, with some expressing their support for him, while others believe that he is relying too much on divine intervention.
As the wait for the final results continues, many Nigerians hope that whoever emerges as the winner will govern the state with the people’s best interest at heart and work towards addressing the pressing issues facing the state.
