According to a report by Premium Times, the panel said Fintiri, who took over from impeached Murtala Nyako in July was not legible to contest for the Saturday, September 6, 2014 primaries.
Chairman of the 5-man screening panel and former senate deputy president, Ibrahim Mantu, who spoke too newsmen at the PDP national secretariat after the Saturday, August 30, 2014 screening exercise said Fintiri was disqualified on what he termed “moral grounds”
Heading into the screening, Fintiri had already received considerable chiding over his decision to contest in the election to replace Nyako whose removal he spearheaded, with other candidates pointing accusing fingers in his direction for plotting a “coup” and lacking the moral right to vie for the office.
Loyalists of the erstwhile governor, Nyako had earlier vowed to present evidence that Fintiri had decamped to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
